COMMEMORATE ARBOR DAY

Ancient Chinese Proverb – “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.”

Celebrate Arbor Day

WHAT IS ARBOR DAY?

Arbor Day, as explained by Wikipedia, is “…a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant and care for trees…”

ARBOR DAY FACTS

Arbor Day was adopted by a lot of countries and states around the globe starting several hundred years ago in order to produce enthusiasm and celebrate the significance of trees for health, hygiene, decoration, nature, environment and customs, to recognize the aesthetic and physical and economic value of trees, and to refoliate barren areas; in fine-to persuade everyone to plant more trees.

WHY DO WE OBSERVE ARBOR DAY?

For community-minded concerns, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources shows that the celebration of Arbor Day gives us a chance to learn about trees and take positive action to make the world a better place.

  • Trees produce vital oxygen through photosynthesis which you and I and animals must breathe.
  • Trees soak up harmful pollutants and small particles from the air that could damage our lungs.
  • Trees decrease noise pollution.
  • Trees give a home and food for wildlife.
  • Trees are wonderful to look at, nice to listen to as leaves rustle in the breeze, fun to explore, thrilling to climb, and excellent to dream under.

Don’t forget to plant correctly. Keep in mindr that trees can get really large, even after you’ve long since moved away, and their roots may distribute wide and shallow. Take your own property and your neighbors’ property in to account.

Trees enhance your environment, and many produce fruit or nuts as well! Because of centuries of progress, we’ve got many trees that can successfully become a satisfying part of your landscape in a shorter length of time than in the past. The same goes for the vast variety of trees that may be grown in pots or other containers – there are more now than any other time!

Enjoy Arbor Day by planning for the future. Plant a tree for yourself, your family, your community, your parents, or grandparents. Plant a fruit tree, an ornamental, or an endangered tree for a big day like a wedding or graduation from school. They are ideal to commemorate when you moved to the new house, to mark the corners of your property, for a wind break, a privacy screen, for shade to cool the area, for the death of a loved-one, or for a child’s birth.

Happy Arbor Day from the folks at 1-800-Nursery!
